AIA Provider Accreditation,
Offers Architects Education Credits on Anti-Static Flooring
February 22, 2010
Watertown, MAThe American Institute
of Architects (AIA) recently announced it has accredited “Anti-Static
Flooring: The Basics,” a course developed by Dave Long, President
& CEO of Staticworx, the largest manufacturer of anti-static
flooring solutions in North America. Long, an educator of architects
and other professionals in the flooring and electrostatic discharge
(ESD) industries, designed this one-credit educational program to
help architects understand the liabilities and technical details
of ESD flooring.
“Architects are at a disadvantage if they don’t receive correct
information about flooring specifications, including the growing
need for fault-tolerant, Class-0 solutions,” said Long. “Without
this knowledge, floors are often specified incorrectly, which can
lead to explosions, interruptions in mission-critical operations,
equipment failure, and other problems that have resulted in a $5
billion problem affecting manufacturing facilities and end-user
Staticworx helps architects keep up with industry changes and understand
the need to install the right ESD flooring proactively, rather than
after a problem has occurred.
The course covers how anti-static flooring works, how to limit the
risk of electrostatic damage to sensitive electronics, how to analyze
installation environments to select the best flooring option, how
to meet international standards, and how to help companies qualify
for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits.
