August 17, 2007

Livermore, Maine-A Livermore man was hospitalized after he was struck by lightning while stepping out the shower at his home Thursday evening.

30-year-old Christian Hussey had his hand on the shower faucet as he was getting out of the shower around 8 p.m., when lightning struck his house at 94 Boothby Road and made its way through the water pipes.

"He got it through the water pipes. He had an arm that he said felt heavy and tingly,"said Fire Chief Donald Castonguay.

Hussey was taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington and then moved to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was reported to be in fair condition.

A line of thunderstorms that brought heavy rain moved through parts of Androscoggin and Oxford Counties between 7 and 8 p.m., according to the weather service.
